Daren Wride's Bio

Daren grew up in the northern community of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. With true wilderness just down the street, Daren developed a love of the outdoors, and later worked in the mineral exploration and fur industries. He also participated in the sport of Marathon Canoe Racing, advancing to the National Championships four times, winning two silver medals and one gold medal. His work and sport involvement taught him the value of teamwork and gave him an early understanding of the traits of strong teams.

In 1990 Daren received a Bachelor of Theology degree, High Honours, and was a leader in the non-profit/church world for nineteen years, learning and teaching essential lessons about the nature of personal and organizational transformation and team dynamics.

Daren is a graduate of the two year Arrow Leadership Program, and a founding director of The Fresh Outlook Foundation which seeks “to provoke a fresh outlook among British Columbians that inspires sustainable behaviour at home, work, and play.” He is also a two time semi-finalist in the Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking, and is a professional member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers.

Daren brings this rich, diverse background into his writing and motivational speaking. His love of creation, passion for transformation, sensitivity to spirituality, and a joy of communication shine through in everything he does. He is known as a compelling communicator, with powerful, often personal stories that move his listeners through the full range of emotions and inspire lasting change and an elevated value on team.

Daren has lived and worked in all four of Canada’s western provinces, and currently resides in Lake Country, British Columbia, with his wife, Kristin and their two teenage children.
